After a gap of 12 years, the iconic nameplate, Mercedes-AMG SL car, returns to India. It will bring the AMG SL 55 4Matic+ via the direct import way. Here’s what to wish from the 2+2 Roadster.
Mercedes-AMG SL 55 Roadster: Icon strikes back
Mercedes-Benz has decided to adopt different approaches in its SL range. This nameplate is exclusive to the AMG model.
This SL Roadster is built on a composite aluminium structure that enhances rigidity without compromising the driving experience, comfort, and athletic body proportions.
Mercedes has chosen an electric soft roof instead of a metal roof to serve weight. With a 21-kg weight reduction, the centre of gravity is less, which results in improved control and driving dynamics.
The roof folds down in just about 15 minutes to fully open and close to 60 km/h speeds.
Mercedes-AMG SL 55 Roadster: Engine Specs
The AMG 4-liter V8 biturbo motor is the engine that powers the Mercedes-Benz SL Roadster and is available in two outputs: SL 55 4Matic+ and SL 64 4Matic+. India will get the first option.
The V8 powertrain of the Mercedes-Benz SL 55 4Matic+ generates 700Nm of torque and 469bhp. It accelerates from a stop to 100 mph in 3.9 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 295 mph.
The 4-litre V8 engine is mated to a 9-speed AMG transmission system with a wet start-off clutch instead of the torque converter, making it lighter.
The Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG also comes with a 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system which offers safety and stability under all driving conditions.
With the optional AMG Dynamic Plus package, the Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG gets different driving modes — Comfort, Slippery, Sport, Sport +, Race and Individual.
