The 2025 Porsche Taycan Has Better Charging and More Power

After a couple of years in the market it’s now available for sale. Porsche Taycan is getting a significant update in 2025. The Taycan is among our top electric vehicles; we even named it one of the Best Rated by Edmunds Luxury Electric Vehicles in 2022. Therefore, we’re expecting high-end performance from the update that Porsche describes as “particularly extensive.”

Porsche began to update the bodywork, even though these changes might not seem apparent at first glance. The front bumper has been slightly altered and the headlights have been made slightly more squintier than before. The rear remains the same.

The GTS Sport Turismo model has been dropped (though we hope it’ll be back in the coming months or possibly in 2025). However, the traditional sedan or wagon like Cross Turismo models (that now include an off-road package option) will remain. The sheet metal beneath is barely new. Are improved electromechanical systems.

All Taycans come featuring Porsche’s suspension air; however, all-wheel-drive models may be equipped with Porsche’s Active Ride suspension. This setup is based on a hydraulic motor pump unit at each damper, which can elevate or lower each wheel separately to take road bumps and make the drive as pleasant as possible. When you are in a hard corner, the system can actively stop body roll at every corner to keep the car as flat as a pancake.

Its Taycan is still based on the Porsche 800-volt design; however, its Performance Battery Plus option has added capacity to 2025. The battery now has a gross capacity of 85 Kilowatts (increased from 95 10 kWh), and peak charging now stands at 350 4 kW (50 kW more than the previous Taycan). The energy efficiency of Regenerative braking has also been increased to 400 kW, up from 290 kW in the last version.

Porsche claims that the Taycan can maintain higher charges over longer periods and in cooler temperatures (which implies that battery life will also improve). In ideal conditions, the Taycan can charge between 10 and 80% of its capacity in 18 minutes despite the bigger capacity battery. The Taycan also has an AC/DC converter of 150 kW designed to improve charging when DC chargers are slower.

The power is on the rise, too. The base rear-drive Taycan can now go from 0 to 60 speed in 4.5 minutes, 0.6 seconds quicker than before. The top-end Turbo S sedan also gets more power. If you use launch control, the Turbo S deploys 938 horsepower (making it the most powerful production Porsche has ever built) and can reach 60 mph in 2.3 seconds. This isn’t the most Model S Plaid quick, however you’ll be awed by anything powered by dinosaur blood. In most models, a push-to-pass feature (available in the Porsche Sport Chrono package) delivers up to 94 horsepower via the electric motors in just 10 minutes.
