2024 Chevrolet Traverse Debuts With New Look, Rugged Z71 Off-Road Trim

Chevrolet unveils today the brand-new 2024 Traverse. The three-row SUV, which will be available for sale in the first quarter of 2024, will sport an updated look both inside and outside and will be offered in a rugged, new Z71 trim.

Traverse Z71 Traverse Z71 has a wider track and more than an inch of higher ground clearance. Chevy is paired with all-terrain tyres that are wrapped around 18-inch wheels, as well as an exclusive twin-clutch, all-wheel drive system. It also has a better approach angle due to its distinctive fascia and tow hooks in red that poke through.

The SUV can handle rough terrain using its own dampers and hydraulic rebound control. The brand-new Traverse has driver-selectable modes of operation, such as the Terrain Mode and Hill descent controls.

The Traverse RS is again available with distinctive badges and new high-gloss black 22-inch aluminium wheels that Chevy adds Black accents to the roof rails, grille and mouldings. There’s even an animation that lights up the walk-up for owners about to enter. Inside, its Traverse RS features a flat-bottom and a three-spoke steering wheel, and the automaker finishes the interior in Jet Black and red accents.

2024, the Traverse will also be offered in LS or LT trims. The 2024 lineup’s power source will be a new turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing approximately 315 horsepower, and 317 pounds of torque. The 3.6-liter V6 engine in the model currently in use produces 315 horsepower and 266 pounds of torque.

An 8-speed automatic transmission is typical, supplying power to the front and rear wheels. All-wheel drive is also available via a Traverse Z71, featuring the exclusive twin-clutch technology. It can tow up to 5,000 pounds towing capacity. The SUV will enter the new model year with two brand-new exterior colours: Lakeshore Blue and Harvest Bronze.

The entry-level LS has eight seats due to the third and second-row benches. Eight seats are offered on the LT; however, this trim includes seven passengers. Z71 and RS trims come with second-row captain’s chairs.

Customers who purchase Traverse RS Traverse RS get one-touch folding third-row seats and power-folding second-row as normal. The ability to fold all the chairs makes the available 97.6 cubic yards of cargo space that the company can make accessible via the AutoSense liftgate, which is the first for an SUV.

A 17.7-inch touchscreen for infotainment dominates the dashboard, and Chevy states it is over 75 percent bigger than the screen available in the 2023 version. The Traverse has a pass-through central console with an electronic transmission shifter positioned in the centre of the column. The automaker produces heated front and second-row outside board seats; a wild steering column and heated mirrors are also available. The Super Cruise is also offered in the version.

The LS and LT will be equipped with Midnight and Sport Edition upgrades. The Traverse features new rear and front lighting, with LEDs included as standard. It is equipped with a variety of safety and driver assist technology, including Chevy Safety Assist, which comes with automatic emergency brakes, a following distance indicator, forward collision alert line, e-keep assist, lane departure warning and high beam assist, as well as front pedestrian and bicyclist breaking.

Chevy will not release pricing details until after the time of production begins, and the vehicle will be put for sale in the early 2024 timeframe. For 2023, the Traverse LS FWD starts at $35,915 (prices include the destination fee of $1,395). The RS starts at $46,440.
